1. RHEL Linux Install

Download and install the lastest RHEL in a Windows Hyper-V VM or on physical hardware.

2. Enable Cockpit (RHEL web console)

  • What is it:

    The RHEL web console is a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 web-based interface designed for managing and monitoring your local system, as well as Linux servers located in your network environment.

  • Procedure:

    1. Enable and start the cockpit.socket service, which runs a web server

      sudo systemctl enable --now cockpit.socket
    2. Browse to

      https://localhost:9090

3. Register System

3.1. Confirm Active Subscription(s)

3.2. Register

  1. Log on to the RedHat Linux host.

  2. Execute:

    sudo subscription-manager register --username <user id> (1)
    The following is a successful registration:
    Registering to: subscription.rhsm.redhat.com:443/subscription
    The system has been registered with ID: 72fea59e-1234-1234-1234-72cdca6e6caf
    The registered system name is: v-rhel-test
    1 Supply the registration credentials.
  3. Visit the systems management page to confirm the registration of your new system. If the second column = 0 then there is no attached subscription.

  4. Confirm each host has an attached subscription.

    1. Click on the host name.

    2. Click the Subscriptions tab.

    3. If there are no attached Subscriptions then attach one via the Attach Subscriptions button.
